Shri Dayanidhi Maran, Minister of Communications & Information Technology, who is presently on a five-day visit to the United States, handed over the letter of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, to Dr. Craig Barrett, Chairman of Intel in San Francisco yesterday regarding setting up of Intel’s Advanced Test Manufacturing (ATM) facility in India. During discussions with Dr. Barrett, Shri Maran impressed upon him as to the benefits that would accrue to Intel in the event of their setting up their ATM facility in India. He further explained to the Intel Chairman about the various policy initiatives taken by his Ministry to promote investment in the IT hardware manufacturing sector in India.
The Ministry of Communications & Information Technology has been holding discussions in the past, over 8 months, with Intel to press for the setting up of the ATM facility in India. India has been short-listed by Intel as one of the possible locations for their ATM facility
